Subject Area
Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology
Activities
Overall, I am interested in understanding how marine taxa from upper and mid-trophic levels respond to environmental stressors, climate change, fisheries, and resources availability. More recently, I have also focused on contaminants (metals and plastics) as potential environmental stressors in marine organisms.
Sea regions of study
Arctic Ocean
North Atlantic Ocean
Southern Ocean
Skills
During my specialization, I have gained analytical expertise in laboratory procedures, such as stable isotope analyses (SIA) and ecophysiological analyses. I am able to use advanced statistical methods and models applied to spatial (e.g. bio-logging) and trophic (e.g. SIA) data, essential to assess trophic relationships within marine environments and relate oceanographic features and environmental variables.
Comment(s)
I studied marine biology and fisheries biology, complemented with a master's in conservation at the university of Algarve, Portugal. During my PhD at MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre Marine at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, I specialized in trophic relationships in the marine environment.
