As a chief research
officer in Fisheries Resources Department,Marine Biology
Section, my role is to lead or coordinate my
colleagues research officers for field-work and laboratory analysis on various living resources in the marine environment including fish; fish biology, plankton and Benthos and stock assessment of fish in Nigeria coastal Environment. Also, am to carry out some statistical analysis on fish biology data collected, write
quarterly and yearly reports and Mentor younger research officer, write and publish research findings in journals, present research findings in symposiums and conferences and finally lecture student on industrial attachment from university.
Skills
The
experience acquired over 5 years during my PhD field and laboratory research
work on Impact of Environmental pollution in Nigerian Coastal Environment on
Blue Crab as postgraduate student. The skill
and experience acquired over 12
years of research in Fisheries Resources Department, NIOMR as
team member and recently a principal investigator on field survey on the Ecology of the Lagos lagoon,
biology of fish species. I
have been part of team selected for quarterly fishery survey on some fish species including sciaenids, carangids, sparidae and so on, on board NIOMR vessel
(RV Bayagbona) in
the Gulf of Guinea. I have joined other
research officers and expertrate on series of projects on marine conservation, fishery, climate change
impact on fisheries, microplastic
in fish, plastic pollution, ocean
acidification observation and environmental impact
assessment.
