• Coral reef and tropical marine ecology, coral taxonomy, monitoring programmes and the applied use of GIS, remote sensing and other spatial decision support tools for conservation planning and management.
• Geographical experience (Rodrigues, Mauritius, Seychelles, Chagos, Kenya, Tanzania, Andamans & Sri Lanka), Gulf of Aden (Yemen, Socotra, & Somalia), Red Sea (Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen & Djibouti), Persian Gulf (Kuwait, Abu Dhabi), Caribbean (Mexico, Antigua & Barbuda & St Lucia), Atlantic (Cameroon), & Pacific (Palau).
  
• Specialties: Survey design and implementation for baseline biodiversity assessments and monitoring programmes; coral taxonomy, benthic biotope classification and habitat mapping, and the design and application of GIS and remote sensing for coastal and island management; Conservation planning for Marine Protected Areas (MPA); Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM); Marine Spatial Planning (MSP); Capacity building, design and delivery of training courses in marine survey techniques, ground-truthing, baseline biodiversity assessments, monitoring and GIS; Stakeholder consultation and facilitation for management planning; BSAC (Advanced Diver); Underwater photography and videography.
