Activities
I am currently a senior researcher at the Research Center for Oceanography, National Research and Innovation Agency (RCO-BRIN), Indonesia. My research lies broadly within marine ecology and marine aquaculture environments, with particular focus on understanding the potential roles of (natural and cultivated) seaweeds in carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation. My approach to research is multi-disciplinary, spanning the fields of ecology, chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and policy. I have explored the use of environmental DNA (eDNA), fatty acid signatures, and fatty acid-specific isotopes to trace seaweed carbon sequestered in marine sediments. Currently, I am exploring seaweed biodiversity and the taxa-specific ability to support carbon preservation in marine environments.
