Activities
I am a Biologist and Ecologist with expertise in avian species ecology, I focus on how human activities disrupt natural systems. My goal is to apply this understanding to conservation planning. Over the last seven years, I have focused on tropical seabirds in the Cabo Verde archipelago, contributing to research on seabirds' distribution, abundance, foraging, and trophic ecology. In my PhD focused on seabird contamination (e.g. plastic and chemical pollution) in a multi-level approach. Currently, I am working as a Postdoc fellow in a project called "Investigate seabird and sea turtle interactions with fisheries and plastic marine pollution in Cabo Verde", the purpose of the study is to improve the knowledge on seabird and sea turtle bycatch in artisanal fishing fleets in Cabo Verde, including aspects regarding gear types, and areas where bycatch has the greatest impact. It also aims the identification of which species and in which areas seabirds and sea turtles are more exposed to marine plastic pollution.
