Activities
El Salvador, constrained by limited natural resources and a lack of major industry, continues to challenge their handling of the economy toward sustained growth.
El Salvador is still vulnerable to natural disasters, such as frequent earthquakes, hurricanes.
To promote El Sarvador's iniciative for their sustainable development, JICA's cooperation focuses on stimulating the economy and expanding employment as well as El Salvador's efforts for disaster risk reduction and environmental conservation.
Central American nations face many common development issues such as the disaster risks prevention and environmental protection.
Since General Secretarist of Central American Integration System (Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana or SICA) is headquartered in El Salvador, JICA is also closely working with SICA to promote programs/projects with a view to tackle region-wide development issues.
