During the Macroalgal EOV IP workshop held in September 2018, recommendations related to building a global data collection were made. Since IMAS (a large, multi-disciplinary marine research institute) currently host TemperateReefBase, housing a selection of global macroalgal data, it was also agreed IMAS would host this new collection. In partnership with the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS), this group will provide outputs to meet the GOOS macroalgal canopy cover EOV requirements making data accessible to an international audience and increasing potential for new research at a global scale.
