Skills
I am working as Meteorological Officer / Forecaster and also Weather Broadcaster with Malaysian Meteorology Department. Major scope of work as Malaysian Meteorologist are forecasting the Malaysia weather 24/7 while studying the causes of particular weather conditions using information obtained from the land, sea and upper atmosphere. As Malaysia is in a Maritime Continent with a Tropical Rainforest Climate, we need to consider all the Synoptic events/systems in our daily forecasts that will affect Malaysia’s weather including Malaysia’s local effect such as the topography and etc. The nature of my job requires me to constantly learn about the weather as well as forecasting it accurately. Besides that, we also conduct study on the impact of weather on the environment and conduct research into weather patterns, climate change and models of weather prediction. On top of that, as one of the Weather Broadcasters in our department, I need to be ‘On Air’ on Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) at least few times in a month to give weather presentation including weather warnings to the public.
